My name is Carli Mosby-Smith. I'm from Hawesville KY and a Hornet Alum (Hancock County High School Class of 2011!). My husband, Kyle, and our 4-year-old daughter, Ellie, moved back to Hancock County from Louisville, KY in 2023 and I've got to say, it's so great to be HOME!
During most of my high school career as a Hornet, I was a 3-sport athlete, playing volleyball, basketball, and softball. I was active year-around and loved every minute of it... Until I tore my ACL three times, three years in a row, requiring multiple surgeries and many hours of physical therapy. I had a hard time adjusting to a more modified lifestyle, but I also wouldn't trade my days as a student athlete for anything!
These injuries did, however, require me to think differently about how I moved my body. In adulthood, I tried just about every form of exercise, some that I loved and some that did not love me nor my knee. It wasn't until after I gave birth to my daughter in 2020 that I fell in love with weightlifting and interval training. Since then, I've been committed to my workouts because I now understand the benefits of weightlifting for women in general and for my mental health specifically.
The love I've developed for exercise, especially group exercise, is something that I've wanted to share with others for a while now. I believe that exercise is for EVERYONE, regardless of age, fitness level, or exercise knowledge. I received a certification as a Group Exercise Instructor from the International Sports Sciences Association in April 2024 and am excited to empower people in my small community to also grow to love moving their bodies as well!
I hope you will consider joining me and some of your fellow community members in an upcoming class. It's never too late to start taking care of YOU!
Building strength, confidence, and community—together.
